Cosmin Manolescu (Romania) is a choreographer and director of Gabriela Tudor Foundation/DCM Company based in Bucharest. Since 1997, he has been involved in the development of contemporary dance in Romania and in the Balkan region. In the last 12 years he produced and co-produced over 100 dance projects such as performances, tours, festivals, platforms, workshops, round tables, residencies in Romania and abroad. He was the co-founder of Balkan Dance Platform, a regional iniative taking place every two year in a different Balkan country and the artistic director of BucharEast.West international dance festival (2001, 2003) and Sibiu Dans 2007.

His artistic work was successfully presented in important festivals and venues in Beirut, New York, San Diego, Paris, Lyon, London, Dublin, Porto, Rome, Florence, Catania, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Bassano del Grappa, Malmo, Luxemburg, Barcelona, Bremen etc. For his artistic work he was awarded with several grants and prizes such as Sadco Prize (Bucharest, 2001), Grand Prix for “Serial paradise” awarded by “Atelier” Experimental Theatre Festival (Sf. Gheorghe, 2003), SACD and Sogeda Awards for the project “Don’t Ask The Blond” (in collaboration with Kira Riikonen, Roberto Casarotoo - Monaco Dance Forum, 2004), “Nouveau Talent Choregraphie” (SACD Paris, 2005).

Cosmin has initiated and co-organised several European research dance projects in Bucharest such as Movements on the Edge (2001, 2002), Terrains Fertiles (2005), Migrant Body (2006-2007). In June 2007 he created Dreams.Land, a female duet with Litsa Kiousi (Berlin) and Camille Mutel (Rome) part of the Danse.Entre.Deux project jointly organised with the occasion of Sibiu and Luxemburg European Cultural Capitale 2007. He played an important role in the creation of National Dance Centre in Bucharest (the only public institution for contemporary dance in Eastern Europe). He also participated in June 2009 in the 6th Asia – Europe dance forum organised by Alkantara and ASEF Foundation from Singapore in Lisbon. His last work – Supersomething – who was premiered in July 2009, is dedicated to the memory of Gabriela Tudor, his wife and colleague.
